Mission:
Blade of Deceit
Location: Guest Quarters
ON:
Kormoth had spent a while in the ships brig but eventually he'd been given guest quarters as his asylum claim was fully considered. That did not mean that there were no security officers there, outside his quarters. He felt he was still very much in a cage. He had yet to see Sabastian, he'd heard he was awake but right now he was too depressed at the situation he was in, too afraid at the thought of starting over.
He looked over at Del. "I am fine, you need not worry."
Del shrugged. "Sabastian would worry."
Kormoth smiled. "He always was one to do that. He never quite fit in with the rough crowd."
Del chuckled. "Indeed. And he always was attached to his ex lovers."
Kormoth shuddered. "Do not remind me he was with you."
Del laughed. "Feeling is mutual. I..."
Before he could say anything the door chimed.
Kormoth sighed. "Why do they chime when I am but a prisoner until I arrive at the base."
Del shrugged. "Human politeness."
"Come in," Kormoth called.
Lanna entered offering a warm smile. “Hello Delix, I thought I sensed your presence here.” She turned to Kormoth. “I’m Lanna Alexander, Chief Counsellor. Sabastian asked me to drop by and see if I can help you.”
Both men laughed. Del shook his head. "See." He told Kormoth.
Kormoth sighed. "Come in then friend of Sabastian. We were just talking about Sabastian and his...care for his friends....."
Del raised an eyebrow. "You do not need to sugar coat things for the counselor." He stood. "Well I shall go check on Sabastian."
Kormoth gave a nod. "Thank you for coming. Please think on what I said about this Poe person."
Del growled and left.
Kormoth shook his head. "For a Denobulan he's extremely possessive." He turned to the counselor. "Please come in and sit. May I offer a beverage?"
“Thank you, a lemonade would be nice please.” Lanna smiled as she took a seat saving questions until they were both settled.
Kormoth got a lemonade for the counselor and a cranberry juice for himself. It was a drink Sabastian had introduced him to. He settled in. "I have not been able to go see him, Sickbay is a security area. Is he well?"
Lanna sipped her lemonade before placing the glass down. “Sabastian is recovering nicely, he’s more worried about everyone else than himself.” She smiled. “He said you’d tell me how the two of you got to know one another, he said you tell the story better.”
Kormoth laughed. "He's embarrassed is what he's not saying" He sighed. "Well. We met on the Xanthan home world. I was on leave trying to read poetry and got side tracked. Sabastian had taken a year off from Starfleet after the man he loved, Zai broke his heart. Sab started working as a...um...dancer the establishment I went to and I was enchanted by him. We discussed Vulcan Poetry and spent six months together. We both knew it was hopeless. He was Starfleet, I was a Klingon..." He shrugged. "We lived on in hope."
“A dancer? Sab was a dancer?” Lanna couldn’t help but smile. “I won’t delve deeper into what kind of dancer.” She grinned. “I’ve never really found poetry to be of interest, but everyone is different.”
He laughed. "A go go dancer." He gave her a wink. "Poetry has some good elements and bad. I must admit Sabastian's favourite poem always drove me insane but." He shrugged. There was a pause and a serious expression came over his face. "I am glad I was on the ship when they brought him aboard. I was able to keep them from...." He seemed to choke a little. "He's going to be alright that is all that matters. I must admit that I have always loved Sabastian. He does not feel the same but if something happened to him I would not have been able to go on."
“He certainly seems to make a good impression on those who know him the most” Lanna added wondering if she had made an error in judgement about Sabastian in agreeing to remove him from duty after Zai’s loss. “He’s a strong willed man, and I would like nothing more than to be considered his friend. Thank you for what you did for him, I’ll do whatever I can to help you.”
He sighed. "We Klingons don't need help...at least that is what I thought before Sabastian. He does consider you a friend. He would not have sent you to check on me. He's very protective of his inner circle." Kormoth stood and walked to the view port. "I feel like I traded one prison for another. I must admit I am slightly off balance."
“I’m afraid the Klingons have a reputation, which tends to rub off on everyone” Lanna added. “But I don’t believe you’re a threat, Sabastian trusts you and having met you I want to try and do whatever I can to assist you while you’re here.”
"Klingons do have a reputation." He lifted his hair to show her his Vulcan ears. "I am not fully Klingon though...so not sure where I fit in. If you can help me get to Vulcan then it would be appreciated....and maybe if I could see Sabastian?"
Lanna nodded. “Part Vulcan, how curious” she smiled. “I’ll see what I can do where getting you to Vulcan is concerned, as for Sabastian that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.”
"Yes, my mother was Klingon, my father Vulcan. A diplomat sent to the Klingon Council. Nothing came of the negotiations but I was born." He shrugged. "In hind sight I should have chosen to be with my father." He paused. "And thank you for Sabastian. I have never been able to stop loving him. It is...difficult to interact with him at times but as I said I do love him and would like to silently pine."
Lanna nodded. “Sabastian certainly seems to be a man that has a lot of past loves. He’s appears to be lucky that way.”
He laughed. "Or cursed. He has past loves that fall hopelessly in love with him but he had only eyes for that slime devil Zai. But he does not lie about it. He is honest and has told everyone of his love for Zai. Now..." He waved a hand. "I do not know if he will ever feel again what he felt for someone who does not deserve it."
“In time he’ll find his way” Lanna smiled. “He just needs time to adjust after everything that’s happened to him.”
"Perhaps there is something you can help me with Counselor. My people do not use counselors but...I am feeling great anger at myself. I could not protect him on the ship and now he is in sickbay. How does one live with seeing a man he deeply loves injured and knowing he was a coward to do anything to stop it."
“You try not to blame yourself. If you’d have tried to save him then you’d most likely dead and Sabastian probably would be as well.” Lanna offered. “You did what you could do at the time.”
"Yes, patching him up and sending him back for interrogation." He stood and walked to the view port. "How am I different from those savage Klingon beasts?"
“You kept him alive” Lanna added. “They would have killed him, but you kept him going.”
"A small thin line." He turned to her. "Thank you for not treating me as...Klingons are normally treated."
Lanna nodded. “I prefer to treat people as I would want to be treated. Everyone deserves a chance, you don’t read a book by its cover, you have to look inside.”
"That is a fascinating approach." He turned to look at her and smiled. "You are pregnant?"
Lanna nodded. “Dare I ask how you know?”
He smiled. "Scent. We Klingons learn the subtle changes. Much like Denobulans." He gave a nod. "Congratulations. A child is a great gift."
“Thank you, and yes children are a gift.” Lanna smiled warmly. “I had heard Klingons have good noses, now I know just how good.”
He laughed. "Do you know, this is the most relaxed I have been in a long time. Thank you for visiting me."
“That’s nice to know, and it’s my pleasure” Lanna smiled warmly. “I’ll let you get some rest, if you need anything just call me.”
"Just to see Sabastian."
Lanna nodded. “I’ll get that arranged, that’s a promise.” With that she headed on her way.
