Mission: Forgotten Wounds
Location: Main Engineering Briefing Room

“I am more than willing to do whatever it takes to help you and your engineers.” Lanna offered. “And I will speak with T’Prel. Please have her contact me when she’s available.”

He sighed. "Also...may I ask a personal favour?"

Lanna nodded. “Ask away.”

"There is an Ensign in Tactical I'll send you his information. He and Zai...." He shrugged. "Well you know. Anyway Zai wrote about him and how the man was deeply in love with Zai. He must be... suffering if that was true can you ensure he is alright? I get that Zai promised him that he'd leave me for him he said it was easy to lie to him but the man ..." He shook his head. "I don't want anyone hurting as much as I am so can you make sure he's alright?"

Lanna nodded. “I can do that, no one should suffer alone. I’ll see to it he’s taken care of.” She offered a brief smile before sipping more of her drink. “It’s not been a good day for any of us today, I hope tomorrow will start off a little brighter.”

"He wrote about you in the journals too. He genuinely loved you and Adrianna. That's what I gather. I still have many to go through but if I find something related to the engineering stuff I shall pass that along." He paused. "I...I am in unbearable pain counselor but I will not let my team down, They, and the people we are going to rescue come first." He took a few breaths as the door hissed open

The yeoman came in. "Here you go." She handed the counselor the tape. "We've taken out the um... personal stuff about Lieutenant Zai's um..."

Sabastian sighed. "Affairs." A sliver or immense pain left the wall he'd build and he was sure Lanna could feel it. "You can say the words Yeoman. Clear my schedule for this evening I have work to do and..."

"Oh and this came for you." She handed an envelope to him.

"What's this?"

"An apology letter from the Science guy. He said he was sorry he broke into your quarters?" She looked at the chief.

Sabastian had a flash image and laughed letting out some tension. "Ah yes he used the secondary release, thought I was in trouble and ran in brandishing his Starfleet issued shoes as weapons."

The Yeoman laughed.

He smiled. "Yes, I had that same reaction. Thank you Yeoman." When she left Sabastian sighed and turned to Lanna. "Are you alright?"

Lanna sighed, then nodded and offered a brief smile. “I’m feeling better now, it just came as a shock. I thought I knew Zai, I thought we were friends. It’s just been a bit of a day.”

He snorted. "I was bonded to him and I didn't see this coming. I always felt that he held back now I know why." He sighed. "He truly did love you and Adrianna." He sighed. "Well no time to fall apart now. I have an Engineering to run and a lot of apologies on my husband's behalf." He paused. "Thank you for taking all this to the Captain." He sighed. "And now that I've ruined my ability to be XO on this ship I should start planning for the next steps."

“You haven’t ruined your ability to be XO, the Captain is simply trying to…protect you. He wants you back as XO when you’re ready for it.” Lanna offered. “Once you reach that point I don’t see why you won’t get your position back again.”

"With how Zai treated the Engineers and how I didn't see it. I don't deserve it."

“Well I beg to differ” Lanna smiled. “You earned your position Sebastian, don’t lose faith in yourself.”

He sighed. "I just don't know." He scrubbed a hand down his face. "Okay I should get to work." He stood. "Thanks again for your help."

Lanna nodded. “It’s what I do. My door is always open.”

"I'll let my engineers know." He paused. "I heard you were putting together a party...."

Lanna nodded. “News travels fast, it’s a get together for the crew to get to know their new Captain and each other. Will you come?”

"I am not sure. As a senior officer I should stop by to at least meet the new engineers but I cannot promise it."

Lanna nodded. “That’s fair enough, as host it’s up to me to be there anyway. I hope to see you there.”

He gave a nod. As they exited the briefing room loud rock music filled engineering, the screechy voice singing 'old time rock en roll' as one of the ensigns walked by. "The Chief is back!"

Sabastian snorted. "If you'll excuse me I have to stuff my ears with cotton and get to work while the children play."

Lanna nodded and grinned. “By all means, I’ll see you later.”

He gave a nod and headed out. There was so much work to do and he was really tired. Ignoring it all he dragged himself towards Shrall and the work that awaited him. What a day. What a long and horrible and painful day and he had to keep it together for hours more.
