Mission: Shore Leave - Starbase 1

ON:

Adrianna had done it. She'd managed to beat Starfleet's legal jargon by finding a loophole similar to one that she had found whilst undercover. But, things had taken a turn that morning and now things were substantially different which meant the time was of the essence. Adrianna rushed down the corridors to engineering, looking around for Vance rather urgently with a pad in her hand. "Vance?" She called out. A lower decker caught sight of her and assumed that if Adrianna was panicking, he should also panic and so helped her, gesturing to the far side. Adrianna ran that way, looking around, "Vance!"

Vance had just finished the new code inputs when Adrianna's voice floated to his ears. He stood up and wiped his hands on the rag over his shoulder. "Adrianna?" He saw her running towards him and feeling somewhat in a panic he headed her way. "Adrianna, what's wrong?"

Adrianna started spewing off in Italian, and it genuinely looked like she was panicked and then switched to standard, "so that means that you're going to have to change all of you ID's, anything with your name on, like the deeds to your place in Alaska. You need to pack your bags. Say goodbye to your friends here. Move with me to Italy. Help me redecorate the Baciami home so that it more us than my parent's home. Apply your engineering skills to convert a bedroom into a nursery for twins. Learn how to make grappa. Learn Italian substantially more. Learn how to farm grapes and run a vineyard. Oh, and we need to leave within a week."

Vance opened and closed his mouth a few times. "Wait, wait, wait. .... Twins...are you?"

Adrianna's face of worry, slowly turned into a huge beaming smile, nodding silently and eagerly. She handed him a small screen like device with the 4D sonograms on. Adrianna may have been smiling but it was clear that she was nervous about how Vance may react.

Vance's mouth pulled into a goofy grin. "Oh..." He looked at the screen smiling with his eyes suddenly watery...then he looked horrified. "OH MY GODS, your brothers will kill me."

The fact that he looked happy made Adrianna's nerves go away for a whole 2 seconds. Her smile was quickly wiped off of her face when he looked horrified and mentioned her brothers not being happy, "we're married and did nothing until our honeymoon... So, I will ask this with caution and try not to get mad at your response... What... Did... You... Do...?" Her eyes seemed to darken, a hint of potential anger that once again he'd made agreements with her brother's without consulting her first.

He had a sheepish grin. "Oh that's right the threat was not to get you pregnant before marriage." He laughed. "We're good."

Adrianna muttered something in Italian under her breath, rubbing the bridge of her nose. She let out an exasperated sigh and then looked up to him. "So," she smiled, "ready to go retire to a vineyard and have a family with me like you always planned?"

He grinned. "I am! As soon as I finish this manifold. Sabastian is... a grumpy bastard today."

"Actually," Adrianna grinned, "you don't work for Starfleet anymore. Neither of us do." She rugged on his wrist.

He grinned and kissed her. "Alright but I do have to finish this, one hour I promise." He sighed. Vance hated leaving things unfinished.

Adrianna took a breath and smiled, "merde... Fine. I'll pack up our quarters and start arranging transport... Mister Baciami."

He grinned. "Ohhh I love the name change." He paused and looked at her. "And now..I have a family." He blushed. "Thank you for that...not just being my wife, the mother of my children but for bringing your crazy brothers into the mix and for sharing your parents with me when they were here."

Adrianna paused and looked at him, her expression softening. She closed the space between them, "thank you for not choosing to leave with your sister when you had the chance. Thank you for not actually forgetting about me. Thank you for loving me even though I spent years lying to you about who I was." Adrianna put her arms around his neck, "and I would do it again."

Vance grinned. "Together for life. I did have a gift for you."

Adrianna looked curious, but stayed where she was, her arms still around his neck, "is it a rare form of PDA?"

He smiled. "Nope." He sighed. "You have to wait to see it though." He grinned. "I have a Vulcan friend, a Captain and he's agreed to name something after your parents, a Vulcan family center...I wanted to do something to honour them. I hope you're okay with stopping on Vulcan before we head home."

Adrianna blinked, she had not quite been expecting that. "I--" she stuttered but nothing coherent came out. Her eyes welled up, but she couldn't bring herself to cry in front of anyone but Vance and she knew people were around. Adrian a bit her lips, letting go of him and taking a step back, looking up to the ceiling, trying to find composure to avoid tears from falling, "I have a reputation to uphold, Vincent."

He laughed. "It's okay to cry my love." He sighed. "Well I should head back to get this done so we can leave. We'll pack and talk tonight?"

"Not in front of people I enjoy making cry, or nervous," Adrianna blinked the wetness away and then looked back at Vance. She took a breath and kissed him lovingly, her lips lingering a little. They agreed not to show PDA at work but this seemed to warrant it. "Don't keep me waiting," she teased and stepped away.
